Tuscany Italian Restaurant in the News. From the Sunday, February 5, 2006 State Journal Register: Chefs Troy Tamminga and Shelby Padilla of Tuscany Italian Restaurant, 3123 Robbins Road, took first place at the Illinois Pork Producers Association annual Taste of Elegance competition in Peoria Jan. 30. The chefs prepared fig-glazed pork loin served with apple sage risotto and mango curry reduction sauce. By taking first place in the competition, the chefs will be participating in the national competition in Orlando, FL in May.

Tuscany is a very homey and inviting Italian restaurant. The friendly staff will welcome you in to the relaxed and comfortable environment. The entrees consist of traditional Italian treats, with no extra flair needed to call attention. The fresh calamari, mussels and goat cheese are favorite starters, while the Pork Involtini and Tortellini Michelangelo are popular entrees. Finish off with a delicious Italian dessert such as tiramisu and a fresh-brewed espresso.

Parties, showers, receptions and group dinners are welcome.
Tuscany welcomes groups up to 90. We offer special, limited menus to assist you with your party menu selections. Although typically closed during the day on Saturday and Sunday, we will open for special parties.

The golden landscapes of Tuscany are counted among Italy's most beloved, and its artistic and architectural heritage is unsurpassed. This area is typical of Italy's countryside. With its rolling hills, tall cypress trees, ancient roads, worn and crumbling farmhouses and villas, and miles of olive groves and well-manicured vineyards, it is understandable that one would think this to be representative of all of Italy. The cuisine of this area reflects a simpler, more rustic approach to cooking that relies heavily on the produce and livestock common to the area. Lamb, beef, kid and game are widely seen on the table in the form of a stew, spit-roasted or grilled. Pasta and vegetables, particularly mushrooms and truffles, are often served alongside. Tuscan food is simple and abundant with local produce, mellow cheeses and grilled meats.
